I'd made the original Pixel Drawer program for the purpose of supplementing another program I was trying to make, but upon reaching an impasse with transparency I kind of dropped it for a while. Then, another project came along, and I reckoned it could be pretty useful, so I dusted it off and put it to work. Then I thought about some improvements I could make to facilitate the making of art assets for a fun project I'll reveal when I've finished it. Then I thought about some more improvements, and just kept adding them and touching the whole thing up until it became something I could use, and use efficiently, for my needs.
I'm really quite proud of this; so much so, when another project started to fail, I substituted this one in to carry some of the weight. (If I can export that one, I'll probably share it on here, too; I was using some pretty unfamiliar coding practices which kind of caused some issues in implementation of some fun concepts.)
So, there are now a bunch of UI elements to help guide the user experience, pressing '?' still takes you to a help screen that is much more robust than it used to be. Compared to the V1.2, this one just has so much more functionality. Like, it's almost approaching professionalism!
This one's going up because it's pretty easy to throw together, and I've got a few other things I can pop on here from time to time before I try to get back to writing original works on a more constant basis than exploiting a two-semester backlog of work.
Oh, and I'm gonna toss the source code up, too, if any aspiring coders or interested professionals wanna see how this thing was thrown together. It uses some basic libraries, so I would like to re-do it a bit with something newer, like javaFX or some such. It works pretty well as is, but I'd like to get it a bit more efficient at higher pixel resolutions. (like, 500x500 lags, and 1000x1000 is impossible. It's not designed for that kind of size of a project, but I'd like for it to be an option.)
Anyways, enjoy! I hope you can use this program to do some cool stuff, and if you want some features tacked on that you think would be cool, let me know! I love making this thing better, it's a real pet project at the moment. Probably gonna replace Data Storage in the Development Section with this, if I keep at this.
