Have yourself a lovely day, and see you tomorrow at eight AM for more.
Sleep by Mackinley Clevinger, May 22, 2016
Nighttime nectar seeps from ground
Where heads are lain, peace is found
As one half waits, another quests
The best are kept, we lose the rest
Sun-shined hills from beneath close sheets
A lifetime lived while tired minds sleep
Respite from life for but a measure
Awake to day from fog of night
Let rays of sun replace our sight
Mist-ridden minds that are slow to rise
The conscious mind spells memory’s demise
Of another land we try to remember
Faced with day’s clock, forced to surrender
Through the day we follow suit
Yet at night we wandered loose
In the light the lines lie clear
Yet dark-worlds blur and twist what’s real
Our lifeblood drains when shining bright
Take back what’s lost, and dim the light
Through mist-filled lens we’ll see our sun
With head lain low the day is done
To fanciful dreams and well-earned sleep
We flock to see what we shall meet
